Với cách ăn gà luộc thông thường nhà mình thường khó lòng ăn hết một con gà, nhưng với cách làm cơm gà này vừa tiện cho cả nhà không phải gỡ xương lại vừa ngon miệng nữa.
Hành tây cắt mỏng ngâm ngay vào tô nước đá để hành được giòn và không bị hăng.
Rau răm nhặt lá rửa sạch. Bắp chuối cắt lát mỏng ngâm ngay vào nước muối để bắp chuối được trắng.
Gà làm sạch, luộc chín. Bỏ vào nước luộc gà vài lát nghệ tươi, 4 tép tỏi đập dập, 1 củ hành tím.
Gạo tẻ và gạo nếp vo sạch ngâm nước trong vòng 1 đến 2 tiếng. Sử dụng nước luộc gà nấu cơm, lượng nước dùng để nấu cơm sao cho ngập gạo là đủ, thêm 1 muỗng cà phê hạt nêm và 5g mỡ gà vào.
Gà sau khi luộc chín tách xương cắt hoặc xé thành miếng vừa ăn. Cho gà vào tô, trộn đều cùng 2 muỗng cà phê hạt nêm, 1 muỗng cà phê tiêu, ½ muỗng cà phê bột ngọt, 1 trái ớt cắt lát, nước cốt chanh.
Cho hành tây, húng quế và rau răm vào cùng thịt gà, đảo đều nhẹ tay.
Cơm chín, xới cơm vào chén dùng muỗng đè nhẹ cho cơm hơi nén lại thành khối sau đó úp lên dĩa, cho thịt gà trộn vào cạnh cơm, dọn kèm với bắp chuối.
